WHAT IS IT?
Each year the 7th and 8th grade choir students at all 3 middle schools have the opportunity to perform in small groups or alone for a judge. There are medals for students who earn a rating of “Excellent” or “Very Good”. All students receive a certificate for participation showing the rating they received. WHERE? This year, the Festival will be at Anchor Bay High School, 6319 County Line Rd, Ira, MI 48023 WHAT IS THE COST? Soloists pay $20.00 plus an accompanist fee (unless they provide their own accompanist). (See below for more soloist requirements) The costs for small ensembles are as follows (per person): Duet- $37.50, Trio- $25.00, Quartet- $18.75. Students also need two original copies of the music. Mr. Gordon has some books, so students who choose one of these books will not have an additional cost. Students have the option to purchase a medal on the day of the event. The cost is $4.00. WHAT TIME DO WE NEED TO BE AT SOLO AND ENSEMBLE? The Festival will be going on from 9:00am - 5:00pm. You will be scheduled sometime during the day. You may request morning or afternoon. We will not know the exact time until 2 weeks before the Festival. You should keep your schedule free that day. When you receive your scheduled time, you will plan on arriving ½ hour before you warm-up. You will be able to go into a warm-up room 10 minutes before your scheduled performance. After the performance you will wait up to 30 minutes for your rating. If you earn a medal you can purchase one at that point, and then leave. The certificates will be given to Mr. Gordon at the end of the day and will be given out in class on Monday. CAN PARENTS WATCH THE PERFORMANCE? Yes. Parents are able to go into the performance room as long as they do so before or after a performance. Once the doors are shut, no one is allowed in. Parents are not allowed into the warm up room. Teachers, Directors, and Accompanists are allowed into the warm up room. Parents are welcome to videotape the performance. There is a cafeteria where parents and students may go to wait before and after the performance. There will be a concession stand in the cafeteria. |
